Gatchalian participates in Sustainable Cities Dialogue
Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian participated in the Sustainable Cities Dialogue organized by the British Embassy on February 28, 2023. The event aimed to encourage the sharing of ideas and best practices among cities in addressing climate change and sustainability issues. Mayor Gatchalian, alongside City Environment and Natural Resources Office head Engr. Romel Pondevida and Public Sanitation and Cleanliness Group head Emmanuel Delesmo, presented the city's efforts in promoting sustainable practices.
During the dialogue, Mayor Gatchalian discussed Valenzuela City's initiatives towards environmental sustainability, including the implementation of a solid waste management program, the promotion of eco-friendly transportation, and the establishment of green spaces. He also emphasized the importance of community participation and cooperation in achieving sustainable development.
Engr. Pondevida, on the other hand, shared the city's programs on clean air and water, which includes the monitoring of air and water quality, and the promotion of alternative sources of energy. Meanwhile, Mr. Delesmo discussed the city's sanitation and cleanliness efforts, which involve the implementation of regular street sweeping and waste collection.
The dialogue provided a platform for Valenzuela City to exchange ideas and best practices with other cities towards achieving sustainability and combating climate change. Mayor Gatchalian expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share the city's initiatives and learn from other cities' experiences.
