Valenzuela helps Cavite City fire victims

The City Government of Valenzuela mobilizes urgent assistance to the City of Cavite’s Fire Victims, distribution of donations was spearheaded by Senator WIN Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie, and Natividad-Borja, and Chief of Staff on Social Welfare Operations Dorothy Go-Evangelista at Cavite City, May 12. 

The 9th City Council of Valenzuela approved Resolution No. 2806, Series of 2023, otherwise known as “A Resolution Appropriating Funds for the Grant of Financial Assistance to the Victims of Fire Incident in the City of Cavite, Amounting to One Million Pesos (Php 1,000,000.00) in form of Cash and/or Kinds of Similar Values Which Shall be Taken from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) of the City Government of Valenzuela” last May 8, 2023.

There are 731 families affected and displaced by the fire incident which devastated residential areas in Barangay 22-A, Barangay 22-M, and Barangay 28 in Quadra, Cavite City, last April 26, 2023. The residents’ means of livelihood were also lost due to this man-made disaster. Thus, the call for Valenzuela City’s immediate helping hand.

Upon arrival at the donation site, Senator WIN Gatchalian and Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja were welcomed by Cavite City Mayor Denver Reyes Chua, Vice Mayor Raleigh Grepo Rusit, and their City Council members Coun. Mau Lu, Coun. Marian Pinzon, Coun. Renan Montoya, and Coun. Jun Novero. Immediately handed over to Cavite fire victims are 800 sacks of rice worth Php 1,000,000 where each family received one (1) sack of rice which weighs 50 kilos.

Pursuant to the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 or Republic Act No. 10121, Section 21, Php 1,000,000 assistance shall be taken from the LDRRMF.

With this, upon the recommendation of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), the members of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) of the City Government of Valenzuela recommended and approved the appropriation and/or transfer of funds in the total amount of Php 1,000,000 in the form of cash and/or in kind of similar values as assistance to be given to the victims of the Cavite City Fire Incident.
