Valenzuela mayor meets with jeepney operators

In preparation for the upcoming week-long transport strike, Mayor WES Gatchalian of Valenzuela City met with jeepney operators and drivers associations (JODA) to discuss their cooperation and support for the Jeepney Modernization Program of the National Government.

During the meeting, the mayor expressed his gratitude to the transport groups for their full cooperation and support, which include NOVADECI Transport Cooperative, Novaliches Malinta Jeepney Transport Cooperative (NMJTC), Malabon Jeepney Transport Cooperative (MAJETSCO), Blumentritt Transport Service Cooperative (BTSC), Metro Valenzuela Transport Cooperative (MVTC), Valenzuela Bignay Meycauayan Transport Cooperative, and KARTUJODA Transport Cooperative.

Mayor Gatchalian emphasized the importance of the modernization program, which aims to replace old and dilapidated jeepneys with safer, more comfortable, and environmentally-friendly vehicles. He assured the transport groups that the City Government of Valenzuela is prepared for the upcoming transport strike, thanks to the help of the aforementioned transport groups.

The JODA members were pleased with the mayor's assurance and expressed their support for the modernization program, noting the benefits it will bring to both commuters and drivers. They also appreciated the opportunity to discuss their concerns with the mayor and the chance to work together towards a better and more sustainable transport system.

The City Government of Valenzuela is committed to working closely with the transport groups and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and safe transition to the modernized jeepneys. The mayor hopes that through this partnership, they can provide a better transport system for the people of Valenzuela and contribute to the overall development of the city.
