Valenzuela seniors get early Christmas gifts
Some 13,666 senior citizens in Valenzuela City received free rice from the city government on the fifth and last day of “Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola” program on July 27, 2019.
Since July 18, Mayor Rex Gatchalian and city-elected officials made the rounds of school and community covered courts to hand the gathered elderly 10 kilograms of rice.
According to Mayor REX, the gift-giving was held as the city government’s way of bringing cheer to its aged constituents.
According to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), a total of 54,527 lolos and lolas this year benefited from the program.
In 2014, Valenzuela was hailed an Age-Friendly City by the non-government organization Coalition of Services of the Elderly (COSE) for "building age friendly communities.”
