To further cultivate the quality of lives of the Valenzuelanos concerning health and well-being, the City of Valenzuela formally opened a sports clinic that featured a variety of sports in the program “Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp 2023”; situated at WES Arena, Barangay Punturin, last May 6, 2023.

The “Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp 2023” is a sports clinic program that aims to introduce the basic mechanics of the respective sport and host tournaments for the registered participants, especially the youth. This program provides an opportunity for Valenzuelanos to learn from the designated coaches and take part in games, while also exhibiting their skills and abilities for each sport. Promoting the advocacy of “Mag-WESxercise Tayo!”, this event was also launched for the purpose of enhancing the health, mobility, and overall well-being of the Valenzuelanos by initiating free sports and wellness programs.

The summer sports camp hosted the following athletic events: lawn tennis, basketball, taekwondo, judo, karate, chess, table tennis, arnis, obstacle sports, badminton, pickleball, sepak takraw, volleyball (for girls and boys), and futsal. The program formally started on May 6, 2023, in which most of the games were simultaneously held on its corresponding facilities in WES Arena, and in other sports parks in the city. On the day of its opening, the participants underwent orientation from their facilitating coaches before proceeding with the event proper.

As of reporting, each sports event garnered approximately fifteen (15) to fifty (50) registered members, most of which were youth athletes who come from ages five (5) to twenty (20) years old. Since some of the games—particularly Volleyball, Futsal, and Obstacle Sports—were scheduled around May 13, June 3-4, and June 10-11, 2023, the registration of the said games is still open to this date.

The games may last for eight (8) sessions, depending on the athletic event. Winning participants for each sport will be given recognition and awards after the session.

With the improvement of health and welfare being one of its top priorities, the City of Valenzuela ensures to roll out programs and activities that are inclusive and accessible to every Pamilyang Valenzuelano. The WES Arena, which possesses complete and state-of-the-art facilities, and sports parks in the city shall serve as recreational areas for all the citizens to freely use.

The Pamilyang Valenzuelano Summer Sports Camp 2023 is currently ongoing. For interested participants of the upcoming sports events, the WES Arena has opened its hotline number: 8243-2566 for further inquiries or registration.
